Jiang Wei said in his speech that China has entered a new era of green and low-carbon development, and the dual-carbon strategy has created new opportunities for the high-quality development of the steel industry chain. A new round of technological innovation and industrial upgrading with green and low-carbon as the background color is booming. We hope to summarize the experience of green and low-carbon development of the steel industry through this meeting, and listen to the needs and suggestions of key downstream central enterprises. Jointly discuss how to make the green and low-carbon development of the steel industry better support the development of downstream industries, and promote the synergistic interaction of the industrial chain in green and low-carbon. Faced with the proposition of The Times, China's steel industry is fully committed to the historical mission of promoting green and low-carbon development. In this context, he put forward three opinions on the green and low-carbon progress of China's steel and the development of green and low-carbon industrial chain and supply chain.

First, relying on scientific and technological innovation to promote steel product innovation and support the high-quality development of downstream industries. He reviewed the development process of China's steel industry and stressed that steel innovation has played a strong supporting role in China's economic development. From the "lack of steel and iron" situation in the early days of the founding of New China, to the self-sufficiency rate of 22 major types of steel products now exceeds 100%, China's steel industry has experienced a huge leap forward. The industry has always taken "high strength, long life and high efficiency" as the direction of product upgrading, showing significant advantages in lightweight design and energy saving and emission reduction, not only supporting the development of the national economy, but also actively practicing the national green low-carbon development strategy, becoming an important cornerstone of the "manufacturing power" strategy. At present, the domestic production of large-scale transformer oriented electrical steel, high-strength automotive steel, high-performance long-distance pipeline steel, high-speed rail, construction bridge steel has steadily entered the international first echelon. It has driven and supported the development and upgrading of the downstream steel industry, and has played an irreplaceable role in promoting the strategy of "manufacturing power" in the country.

The second is to systematically promote the green and low-carbon transformation of steel and fulfill the mission of ecological civilization construction.? It has carried out the world's most stringent ultra-low emission transformation, compiled and released the "Carbon neutral Vision Plan and Technology Roadmap for the Steel Industry", organized the construction of the EPD platform for the whole steel industry chain, launched the "extreme energy efficiency" project, and prepared to build the "National Steel low-carbon Technology Innovation Center". These measures not only mark the solid steps taken by China's steel industry on the road of green development, but also make it a pioneer and practitioner of green development on a global scale. Through continuous technological innovation and management optimization, China's steel industry is gradually transforming from a traditional high-energy industry to a low-carbon and environmentally friendly industry, contributing to the global response to climate change, and providing valuable experience and demonstration for the low-carbon transformation of other heavy industries.

Third, work together to build a green and low-carbon supply chain and shoulder the responsibility for sustainable social development. Steel is working with power, machinery, construction, ships, automobiles, home appliances and other fields to jointly build partnerships for green development in response to the growing market demand for low-carbon emission steel. In order to better meet these needs, the China Iron and Steel Association has established a low-carbon emission steel standard system that meets international standards and is suitable for China's national conditions, released the first batch of low-carbon emission steel products, and launched cooperation initiatives on low-carbon emission steel in real estate and other fields.

Li Yu, deputy director of the Science and Technology Environmental Protection Department of the Steel Association, made a report entitled "Green low-carbon Transformation Work and Progress of China's Steel Industry". The participants were given a detailed and comprehensive introduction to the development status of China's steel industry, ultra-low emission transformation project, low-carbon development vision and roadmap, extreme energy efficiency project, low-carbon common technology research and development progress, green and low-carbon standardization progress, and physical quality brand cultivation of metallurgical products (Golden Cup Award).

Zhang Haifeng, director of the Secretariat of the EPD Platform for the whole steel industry chain, made a report entitled "EPD Platform Construction Helps the Green and low-carbon development of the steel industry Chain". From the three aspects of global climate change and carbon neutrality, building the EPD platform of the whole steel industry chain, and shaping a stronger value chain, China's steel industry is accelerating green and low-carbon development by establishing and improving the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) platform of the whole steel industry chain. The EPD platform not only provides a standardized product carbon footprint accounting method for steel enterprises, but also enhances downstream users' trust in green products and promotes the green transformation of the entire industrial chain. In addition, in the face of changes in international trade rules such as the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), China's steel industry has accelerated the standardization process of product carbon emissions accounting, actively responded to the pressure of the international market, and committed to building a more sustainable and competitive value chain system.

Liu Yinghao, chief researcher of Baowu Central Research Institute and Chairman of the LCA Committee of the World Steel Association, made a report entitled "Research and Application of evaluation methods for Low carbon emission Steel", introducing the background of standard research, standard preparation and content, standard application and international consensus. It is pointed out that the research and application of low carbon emission steel evaluation method aims to meet the challenge brought by "carbon emission" as a new variable in international trade, meet the demand of downstream users for low carbon products and meet the green competition among peers. The standard covers the production process from raw material treatment to crude steel or hot-rolled products, and specifies the accounting boundaries of greenhouse gas emissions, emission sources and evaluation processes, providing a systematic evaluation framework for low-carbon emission steel. In addition, it promotes the mutual recognition of domestic and international standards, promotes the transformation of the steel industry to low-carbon green, and helps achieve the goal of global carbon neutrality.

In the exchange session of the conference, representatives of key steel downstream users also introduced the requirements, planning and work promotion of the green low-carbon work of the enterprise from the actual situation of their respective enterprises, analyzed the problems encountered in the work, and put forward proposals such as regularly announcing the results of green low-carbon standardization of the industry and taking the lead in formulating industry guiding standards. And on the downstream users concerned about the product premium and other issues, actively promote the optimization and transformation of industrial production, promulgation of industry norms and standardization requirements, in order to enhance the market competitiveness of "green steel" products, to solve the problem of product procurement and marketing compliance and other opinions and suggestions. Further affirmed the iron and steel industry to carry out the physical quality of metallurgical products brand cultivation (Gold Cup Award), the steel industry chain EPD platform, low carbon emission steel standards and other work, and expressed the willingness to cooperate with the iron and steel industry, to promote the relevant work results and procurement work of the positive attitude. The discussion of the meeting was warm and rigorous, and some common problems that downstream users were concerned about were positively responded by the Steel Association and steel enterprises.

The participants believed that this meeting is of great significance to promote the healthy development of the upstream and downstream industrial chain and supply chain, and suggested long-term persistence, promote the implementation of various discussed matters, continue to expand the scope and scale of downstream participants, maintain the smooth communication channels and convenient information transmission of upstream and downstream enterprises, and build a valuable upstream and downstream industry exchange and cooperation platform.
